Kateryna Kravchenko is a Ukrainian vocalist and composer, currently based in Cologne, Germany. Born and raised in a small town in Ukraine, she started playing the piano at the age of four and discovered her love for singing at the age of eleven. Following the dream of becoming a jazz musician, she moved to Germany in 2018 to study jazz/rock/pop singing at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden. From 2020 to 2022, Kateryna was a member of the German National Youth Jazz Orchestra (BuJazzO) and received the Grizzly Jazz Foundation scholarship. She has collaborated with internationally renowned musicians such as Melissa Aldana, Lars Danielsson, Lage Lund, Joey Baron, Ben van Gelder and Linda May Han Oh and has performed her music with the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn. Her desire for further development and learning encouraged her to go to Stockholm for an exchange year in 2022/23, where she focused on composing for a large ensemble and creating a genre-bending suite inspired by paintings by Ukrainian artist Maria Prymachenko. Shortly after the premiere of her work in Sweden, she was invited to participate in the residency program 'Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead' at the Kennedy Center in the USA and became a member of the Gutenberg Jazz Collective. Currently, Kateryna is pursuing a dual master’s degree in Jazz Composition and Vocals at the Cologne University of Music.
