OJC-Masterclass: Kerstin Haberecht - Motivic Improvisation (Saxophone)

How can I create an exciting solo with simple, short melodic building blocks and leave a lasting impression? With lots of fun and practical exercises, we'll explore this question together. Along the way, participants will strengthen their sense of rhythm, form, and what else makes a good solo.

The workshop is open to all instruments and levels.

Saxophonist Kerstin Haberecht has been an integral part of the Rhine-Main jazz scene since her jazz studies in Mainz and regularly performs on German stages both as a leader and as a sideman. She takes great pleasure in presenting both the gentle, lyrical and the energetic, percussive sides of her sound. She is also distinguished by her talent for strong melodies and polyrhythms as well as her flexibility in tone. In 2016, her debut album "Essence" was released with "Haberecht 4," and in 2024 "Maiden Flight" with "Duo Voltige." Beyond that, she works passionately as an educator and is involved in various networks.
