Andrej Hermelin & His Swing Orchestra
Andrej Hermlin is a German pianist and former bandleader of the Swing Dance Orchestra. In 1986, he founded the Swing Dance Band, which evolved into the Swing Dance Orchestra in 1995, where he has served as bandleader ever since. Authentic swing arrangements create a completely new sound that is unique among existing swing orchestras in the United States and Europe. The new Swing Dance Orchestra consists of young, hungry, and talented musicians from Australia, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Great Britain, Russia, and Germany – all of whom dedicated themselves to American jazz music of the 1930s.
The orchestra presents works by Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, and others. With this ensemble, he has released more than ten albums to date and has performed regularly with it nationally and internationally. Andrej Hermlin & His Swing Dance Orchestra has performed at prestigious venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, Kölner Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Wintergarten, and Tonhalle Düsseldorf.
