Bayoogie Masters Düsseldorf - Special Guest: Dom Pipkin
The music series "Bayoogie Masters" is presented by Christian Christl and Bastian Korn and brings the masters of blues and boogie woogie to Düsseldorf. The Jazz-Schmiede is a magnificent venue for the music series. Dom Pipkin is a European specialist in New Orleans rhythm and blues and was described by Blues in Britain as "one of the world's best exponents of New Orleans piano." He discovered the New Orleans style in the early 1990s and has since been a regular visitor and performer in that city, with a career spanning almost three decades in the European blues and boogie woogie festival circuit.
Pipkin breathes new life into the classic funk sounds of The Meters, Dr John, Fats Domino, and Professor Longhair, with these influences expressed in his own irresistible songwriting. He has specialized particularly in the unique sounds of the idiosyncratic New Orleans piano star James Booker and captures his characteristic combination of driving blues with rhapsodic classical influences. In live shows, Pipkin mixes his own convincing songwriting with blues and Big Easy classics, which "cook up a steaming musical stew that gets the audience dancing and clapping."
