Pulsar Trio - We Smell in Stereo
Pulsar Trio combines a creative jazz approach with psychedelic influences, lush melodic sensibility, rock influences, and the rhythmic complexity of drum and bass. The group demonstrates innovative ways to integrate hypnotic Indian sitar playing into cinematic layers of piano and drum ecstasy. The extraordinary and probably unique instrumentation of the trio – drums, piano, and sitar – enables them to continuously explore new musical terrain.
The ensemble consists of Beate Wein (piano, synths, FX), Matyas Wolter (sitar, surbahar, FX), and Aaron Christ (drums, percussion, FX). As recipients of the Creole Award, Pulsar Trio have proven their strong live presence at numerous concerts, including the Leverkusen Jazz Days, the Fusion Festival, Glastonbury, the Rudolstadt Festival, and the Delhi International Jazz Festival. "We Smell in Stereo" is their album released in 2023 with ten compositions. The album title refers to the fact that sharks do not smell monoaurally – their sense of smell functions in stereo.
