Turnaround 2026 I Random Control feat. Fola Dada
Random/Control was for many years the most significant project of Austrian jazz pianist David Helbock. The three musicians from Vorarlberg celebrated their 15th anniversary last year and have given hundreds of concerts together around the world. The trio's trademark is and remains the many instruments – just three musicians, but well over 20 instruments. Andreas Broger plays clarinet, bass clarinet, various saxophones and flutes and now even sings occasionally. Johannes Bär masters nearly all brass instruments – sousaphone, tuba, trombone, trumpet, alphorn, but also didgeridoo, beatbox and drums. Inspired by this variety of sound possibilities, David Helbock, who focuses on piano and some percussion, has composed many new pieces and set to music poems by William Blake, Emily Dickinson and others.
Now the trio has invited Fola Dada to sing these very poems. Fola Dada is an extremely versatile artist and can be called a pioneer when it comes to combining different genres in singing. The trained jazz singer is indispensable in the German jazz and soul scene and was awarded the German Jazz Prize in the vocal category in 2022.
