Glenn Miller Orchestra
The Glenn Miller Orchestra was founded in 1956 and has been touring continuously ever since, with an average of 300 live performances per year. Following the release of the film "The Glenn Miller Story" in 1954 starring Jimmy Stewart and June Allyson, the Miller Estate authorized the establishment of today's Glenn Miller Orchestra. On June 6, 1956, the reformed Glenn Miller Orchestra, under the direction of drummer Ray McKinley, performed its first concert and has been constantly touring ever since. Since January 2012, singer Nick Hilscher has led the band.
The original Glenn Miller and His Orchestra was an American swing dance band founded in 1938 that became the most popular and commercially successful dance orchestra of the swing era with its distinctive clarinet and saxophone harmony. Today's Glenn Miller Orchestra performs timeless classics such as "In the Mood," "Moonlight Serenade," "Chattanooga Choo Choo," "Pennsylvania 6-5000," "String of Pearls," and "Tuxedo Junction" on stage. Over 18 musicians and singers bring the distinctive Glenn Miller sound to life.
