Nils Petter Molvær is a Norwegian jazz trumpeter, composer, and music producer who is regarded as a pioneer of Future Jazz – a genre that combines jazz and electronic music. His work transcends genre boundaries and draws from ambient, electronica, dub, post-rock, and traditional jazz improvisation. His debut album Khmer from 1997 was a turning point – it fused dark electronic textures with live trumpet and fragmented beats and gained critical recognition beyond jazz circles.

In live performances, he is known for immersive, often cinematic shows in which sound design plays as important a role as improvisation. Molvær performs internationally in solo, trio, and collaboration projects. In 2025 he signed with Edition Records; the upcoming release of Khmer Live in Bergen revisits his iconic work not as nostalgia, but as renewal.
