Liniker - Naïka
Liniker and Naïka share the Montreux Jazz Lab on July 7. Liniker is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and former bandleader of the Brazilian soul and Black music band Liniker e os Caramelows. Her voice is described as "powerful and low-frequency" with "slightly rough, soul-singer characteristic" as well as "versatile" with "recurring falsetto" and "easily recognizable timbre." She initially made a name for herself with a fusion of samba, pop, soul, jazz, dub reggae, R&B and chanson torch songs.
Her album "Indigo Borboleta Anil" received three Latin Grammy nominations in 2022 and made Liniker the first transgender artist to win a Latin Grammy. Her second solo album CAJU (August 2024) has accumulated over 200 million streams. In 2023, she presented her solo album in Europe with performances in Spain, Portugal, UK, France, the Netherlands and Germany, including Glastonbury, Roskilde and Jazz à Vienne.
Naïka is an American-French-Haitian singer and songwriter, born in Miami to a Haitian mother and French father who grew up in Madagascar. She spent her childhood in various countries – Guadeloupe, Vanuatu, Nairobi, Paris and South Africa – before returning to Miami at age 16. Her music style, which she calls "World Pop," is based on a blend of world music – European (especially French), African, Caribbean and Afro-Caribbean – with pop, soul and R&B. Her most recent international tour sold out in almost every city within two weeks.
