Gregory Porter & Band
Gregory Porter was born in Sacramento, California, and grew up in Bakersfield, where his mother encouraged him to sing in church at a young age. The two-time Grammy Award winner for Best Jazz Vocal Album has established himself as the most soulful jazz singer of his generation. His album "Liquid Spirit" won the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album in 2014 and reached the top 10 of the British album charts. His 2016 album "Take Me To The Alley" earned him his second Grammy and solidified his status as a leading jazz singer-songwriter of his generation.
Gregory Porter & Band will perform on Sunday, July 19 at 8:30 p.m. at the Thurn und Taxis Castle Festival in Regensburg, a festival known for concerts in the castle courtyard. The American jazz and soul star will transform the castle courtyard into an atmosphere of soul, jazz, and pure emotion with his warm baritone voice and captivating songs. The Thurn und Taxis Castle Festival takes place in 2026 for the 22nd time from July 10 to 19 in the enchanting atmosphere of the courtyard and park of the Prince's Castle in Regensburg.
The band presents tight, nuanced arrangements: swing rhythms, walking bass lines, soulful organ chords, and expressive solos on piano, saxophone, or trumpet, while Porter's rich and resonant voice takes center stage, telling stories that feel both personal and universal.
