Harvard Krokodiloes - Harvard's oldest a cappella singing group
The Harvard Krokodiloes are Harvard's oldest a cappella singing group, founded in 1946. The group consists of twelve tuxedo-wearing students and presents their repertoire as "Songs from the Great American Songbook and beyond." Every year, the Kroks bring their characteristic blend of jazz, funk, soul, and ballad arrangements to more than 20 countries around the world. Every January, the Krokodiloes travel throughout the USA, and every summer they undertake an eleven-day, six-continent tour.
The Kroks were founded in 1946 when four members of the Hasty Pudding Club began singing popular hits of their time in four-part harmony. The group had a particularly close relationship with Leonard Bernstein, who composed a musical setting of an E. E. Cummings poem in 1973 and wrote an original song for the group in 1983. The group has performed on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, Good Morning America, NPR, and numerous international television programs.
