Chris Minh Doky & The Nomads
The Nomads is a bass-driven band that reinterprets electric jazz with fresh energy and bold creativity. Led by bassist Chris Minh Doky, the band places bass at the center of a modern soundscape inspired equally by Larry Graham and Jaco Pastorius as by Billie Eilish and James Blake. With deep grooves, boundary-pushing improvisations, and performances that are as raw and electric as they are deeply musical, The Nomads brings bass to the forefront and bridges generations through groove and melody.
Chris Minh Doky is a Danish jazz musician born on February 7, 1969, and the younger brother of jazz pianist Niels Lan Doky. As a sideman, he has collaborated with Mike Stern, Michael Brecker, Trilok Gurtu, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and David Sanborn. Doky was knighted by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark in 2010 in recognition of his contributions to the arts.
