Ida Nielsen is a Danish bass player, multi-instrumentalist, and composer born in 1975 who began playing bass guitar at 16 and graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in Denmark. She gained recognition as a member of the Danish pop rock band "Michael Learns to Rock" and the Belgian group "Zap Mama".

In 2010, she received a remarkable invitation from Prince to join his band, which she describes as "the most magical musical journey ever" - a childhood dream come true. She was part of Prince's bands, including New Power Generation and 3rdeyegirl, from 2010 until his passing in April 2016.

Now leading her band The Funkbots, she delivers an energetic mix of jazz, funk, hip hop, and rock - her music is a unique blend of old-school funk, hip hop, with world music elements, packed with good vibes and tight grooves. She was listed as one of the top ten bassists in the world by Music Radar in 2019, alongside legends like Stanley Clark and Victor Wooten.
