Trumpeter and composer Dima Bondarev, winner of the 2025 Deutscher Jazzpreis in the Brass category, returns to A-Trane with his quartet for a special unplugged evening.
Born in Ukraine and based in Berlin since 2013, Dima Bondarev has established himself as one of the distinctive voices of contemporary European jazz. A graduate of the Jazz Institut Berlin and former participant of the prestigious Focusyear program at Jazzcampus Basel, he has developed a highly individual musical language that moves freely between modern jazz, improvisation, avant-garde and contemporary sounds.
Over the years, Bondarev has collaborated with some of the most respected names in international jazz, including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Gilad Hekselman, Lionel Loueke, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Aaron Parks, Joey Baron, Jim Black, Nels Cline, Ingrid Laubrock and the NDR Big Band.
For this special A-Trane concert, the quartet presents music from Bondarev’s latest albums Silence Is Complicity and Get a Second Wind, together with several brand-new, unreleased compositions.
The unplugged format brings the music especially close: four musicians, acoustic sound, room for spontaneous interaction and the kind of musical dialogue that can only happen live.
A special Wednesday night of contemporary jazz, new music and spontaneous energy — live at A-Trane.
Dima Bondarev — Trumpet
Igor Osypov — Guitar
Igor Spallati — Bass
Marc Michel — Drums
