Tony Hurdle - «Guardians Of The Groove»
The Guardians Of The Groove honor Giorgio Carioti this evening, the legendary club owner of Quasimodo, who made the Berlin jazz venue the leading address in Germany. Tony Hurdle, who played his first Berlin gig at Giorgio's in 1992, leads this all-star lineup to honor the man who shaped the Berlin jazz scene.
Since 1995, the Guardians Of The Groove have embodied the essence of funk music: the groove itself. The band fuses the energy of the 1970s with contemporary twists, creating a sound that has conquered all of Europe from Berlin. The spectrum ranges from precise, razor-sharp riffs to excellent solos to an intensity that explores the limits of what the human ear can take in. The Guardians pay tribute to the great masters – Brass Construction, James Brown, Earth Wind & Fire, Funkadelic – and combine these influences with Tony Hurdle's original compositions into a distinctive sound that gets the audience moving.
