Shuteen Erdenebaatar Quartet – Jazz
Shuteen Erdenebaatar was born in Ulaanbaatar and began her musical career as a classical pianist. At 16 years old, she discovered jazz and immediately recognized her artistic direction. After completing her bachelor's degree in classical composition, she moved to Munich in 2018 for a dual master's program in jazz piano and jazz composition. There she developed her unique musical voice – rooted in classical music, enriched by the freedom of jazz, and shaped by the colors of her Mongolian homeland.
Following the release of her debut album Rising Sun in September 2023 on the US label Motéma Music, Erdenebaatar was quickly recognized as one of the most promising young artists of the European jazz scene. The quartet album led to numerous sold-out international performances and invitations to major festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, Jazzahead!, Jazz Baltica, and the Reykjavík Jazz Festival. The quartet was awarded the German Jazz Prize in 2024 in the Ensemble of the Year category and received the Mongolian cultural award Mungun Mod in the Album of the Year category.
