Yusheng Jiang Quintet feat. Adinda Hertmans – Modern Jazz
On June 3, 2026, the Yusheng Jiang Quintet presents a masterclass final concert of HMT Leipzig at Horns Erben. Bassist and composer Yusheng Jiang brings together the vibrant jazz scenes of Brussels and Leipzig in an evening of original contemporary jazz music.
The program offers an in-depth exploration of contemporary jazz with works from Jiang's forthcoming album "As Water Turns". The music embodies an aesthetic of fluid transformation, rooted in Belgian, German, and Nordic jazz culture. Through the integration of electronic textures and classical influences, Jiang redefines the contemporary role of the bass—a synthesis of European sensibility with subtle echoes of his Chinese musical heritage. Guided by the concepts of impressionism and storytelling, compositions emerge that weave delicate melodies and lyrical improvisation into immersive narratives.
Line-up:
Yusheng Jiang (bass)
Emmanuel Walter (piano)
Lorenz Bergler (woodwinds)
Ben Mammel (trumpet)
