Brian Charette & OTB Trio [USA]
Brian Charette is an American jazz pianist, Hammond organist, and electronic music producer. He currently ranks 2nd in the 2024 Downbeat Critic's Poll for organ and 6th for keyboards. Born in 1972 in Meriden, Connecticut, Brian was introduced to music by his mother Catherine and was already performing with jazz legends such as Lou Donaldson and Houston Person at age 17.
The OTB Trio is Charette's unconventional interpretation of the Hammond organ trio, which led Downbeat to describe him as "the last word on what it really means to play jazz organ." Andy Sanesi is a sought-after drummer and longtime friend of Charette's with a subtle, precise playing style. Guitarist Andy Waddell completes the trio—an LA institution that has collaborated with artists such as Patti Austin and Gary Novak.
Charette's Cellar Live album "Jackpot" was recorded in Rudy Van Gelder's renowned studio and received 4 stars from Downbeat, charting in the Jazzweek charts for months and reaching number 9 for 6 weeks. He is an active writer and educator, writing for Keyboard Magazine and Downbeat and teaching master classes worldwide, including at the Czech Summer Jazz Workshop in Prague.
