
Anna Setton - Jazz from Brazil
Anna Setton is a Brazilian singer and songwriter with a 15-year career who has collaborated with some of the most renowned Brazilian musicians, including Toquinho and João Bosco. She developed her voice in the vibrant jazz clubs of São Paulo and toured the world for five years alongside the legendary Toquinho, immersing herself in the worlds of jazz, bossa nova, and MPB. Setton combines melodic elegance with harmonic sensitivity and a voice that is warm and magnetic. With her quartet, she presents original compositions and refined arrangements that capture the intimacy and sophistication of contemporary Brazilian sound.
Her debut album Anna Setton (November 2018) features seven original songs and new versions of great Brazilian standards as well as Nature Boy, recorded with talented musicians from the São Paulo jazz scene: Edu Sangirardi (piano), Bruno Migotto (bass), Vinicius Gomes (guitar), Jonatas Sansão (drums), Diego Garbin (flugelhorn), and Jota P (saxophone).
Anna's music is strongly influenced by jazz and the richness of Brazilian rhythms such as samba, baião, choro, and ijexá. The show from this album toured throughout Brazil and abroad, to countries such as Portugal, France, Germany, England, Australia, South Korea, and Japan.
Her latest work is the album Onde mora meu coração (2021), recorded with special vocal and guitar interpretations and featuring a collection of classic Brazilian songs as well as an original and a moving duet with the great Cuban diva Omara Portuondo.
