Thomas Siffling: NQ+
Mannheim trumpeter Thomas Siffling has been counted among the most prominent voices of jazz in Germany for many years.
With his new project, he now opens a fresh yet deeply rooted chapter – elegant, reduced, emotional, relatable, and full of groove.
At the center are clear melodies, harmonic reduction, and an atmospheric sound, subtly enriched by electronic nuances. Siffling uses this freedom to impressively showcase his qualities as an emotional and lyrical trumpeter.
Inspired by the Scandinavian jazz aesthetic of Esbjörn Svensson Trio (EST) and the lyrical clarity of Miles Davis, the reduction to the essentials takes center stage: beautiful themes, plenty of space for emotion, and a fine electronic touch that keeps the sound modern but never overloaded.
Siffling is accompanied by a top-tier trio featuring Frankfurt drummer Oli Rubow, Düsseldorf pianist Sebastian Gahler, and Mannheim bassist Tobias Schmitt
