50 Years of Boogie Woogie Sessions - Axel & Torsten Zwingenberger and Martin Pyrker
1976 was the year of the Boogie Woogie revival: on May 9, the first major Boogie Woogie piano festival took place in the sold-out Vienna Concert Hall. This historic event is being celebrated 50 years later. Axel Zwingenberger (p) & Torsten Zwingenberger (dr/perc) perform as BOOGIE WOOGIE BROTHERS with Martin Pyrker (p) in Vienna.
Axel Zwingenberger (born May 7, 1955) is a German blues and boogie woogie pianist and songwriter. The "Boogie Woogie Brothers" celebrated their 50-year live anniversary in 2023: they have been performing together on international concert stages since 1973. Torsten Zwingenberger is a German jazz & boogie woogie drummer and percussionist. Martin Pyrker (* August 27, 1954 in Vienna) is an Austrian boogie woogie and blues pianist. Pyrker's legendary concerts in the 1970s with Zwingenberger, Weber, and Möller led to the first piano boogie woogie record in Austria ("Boogie Woogie Session 76" / EMI) and were the beginning of growing enthusiasm for this music genre in Austria and Germany.
