Takadoon
Takadoon is a contemporary vocal jazz band from Hamburg that has been active since 2011. The name comes from "ta-ka-di-mi," a South Indian drum language, and "Doon" stands for an improvisation mode. The band is led by singer Linda Baum and keyboardist Christopher Baum, who have developed a distinctive style. Takadoon describes their style as "Modern Vocal Jazz" – a blend of lots of jazz and some pop, melodic and easy to listen to, but with substance, vitality, and broad horizons.
The band's sound reflects Latin music as well as influences from contemporary American piano jazz aesthetes like Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau, while the two voices play with the intensity and charm of US singers like Esperanza Spalding or Gretchen Parlato. The debut album "Inner Voice" was presented on June 17, 2016 at the Jazzclub Birdland. In 2017 they released the album "Inner Voice," and in 2023 the album "Pieces" followed with collaboration with Grammy winner Eric Harland.
