The BRANKO ARNSEK SEXTETT plays modern, fresh jazz in its own unique style. The music is written by the Slovenian jazz bassist Branko Arnsek, whose half-life as a musical globetrotter (from his Balkan roots to his adopted musical home of Cuba) has had a strong influence on his music. (Ruth Hamilton) Branko Arnsek, jazz bassist and musical globetrotter, brings together his experiences and passion under his name in this band. These range from the Balkans to Cuba. Balkans because of his origins and Cuba because of his "adopted home". In his compositions, this influence meets modern actual jazz influenced from popular stiles and is performed by young and great musicians. To underline the authenticity of the Cuban influence, percussion enriches the rhythm section. The sextet has excellent wind players in Anton Mangold and Janos Löber. Frank Eberle on piano is a long-time companion of Branko's. Due to his experience with compositions for singers, the decision was quickly made to bring a Cuban singer into the band for some songs. Mayelis, now part of the band, sings these in her native language, Spanish. Arnsek's compositions combine Afro-Cuban rhythms with Balkan virtuosity and allow the listener to experience new sounds and soundscapes in the playground of modern jazz. Über Branko Arnšek

Branko Arnsek, Bassist mit weitreichenden Kompetenzen hat sein Studium in Bern bei Jimmy Woody absolviert. Inzwischen, mit allerlei Erfahrung gesegnet, ist er für alles, was mit Jazz, World und Latin umschrieben wird, zu haben. Als "Grooveweltenkompressor" wird auch einiges von ihm erwartet.
