GRANT STEWART QUARTET FEAT. MARTIN SASSE SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE JAZZ INTERNATIONAL (US/DE/AT)
Grant Stewart is counted among the most dynamic interpreters of the bebop tradition far beyond the USA. The US jazz magazine Down Beat has consistently listed him for years among the "rising stars on the tenor sax". His CD "Live at Smalls" received the German Record Critics' Prize in 2013, and his recordings of Duke Ellington classics as well as collaborations with Eric Alexander have been internationally acclaimed.
In this quartet, Stewart meets three outstanding European musicians: Martin Sasse from Cologne is among Europe's leading pianists and has performed with artists such as Al Foster, Steve Grossman, and Till Brönner. Bassist Kenji Rabson is from Boston, lived for many years in New York, and is counted among Europe's most booked sidemen. Austrian drummer Bernd Reiter, winner of the Hans Koller Prize in 2006, has played with Don Menza, Harold Mabern, Cyrus Chestnut, and many other jazz greats.
The quartet offers energetic and swinging music at the highest level – bebop tradition with professionalism and enthusiasm.
