Four school bands present the diversity of Darmstadt's school jazz scene. The young musicians showcase on the stage of Centralstation what jazz lives on: liveliness and joy of playing.

The band directors come from a pool of established Darmstadt jazz talents. Christoph Schöpsdau, award winner in the emerging composers competition of the hr Big Band and multiple award winner at "Jugend jazzt," directs the band of Justus-Liebig-Schule. Pianist and composer Uli Partheil, instructor for the workshop series Darmstädter Jazz-Conceptions, teaches the band of Ludwig-Georgs-Gymnasium. Eduard Kraft makes music with the band of Viktoriaschule, Oliver Nickel directs the jazz combo of Edith-Stein-Schule.

The repertoire of the musicians, who are between 10 and 20 years old, ranges from swing and groove to film music and jazz classics to Latin American songs as well as rock and pop pieces.
