Just before its fortieth anniversary, the jazz choir "Body & Soul" of HfMT Hamburg returns to the JazzHall. Under the direction of Sophia Oster for the past three years, the ensemble has developed a new warmth and heartfelt presence with an expanded repertoire. The ensemble combines inspirations from the New York Voices with jazz standards from the Great American Songbook as well as accents from Latin and Gospel. To be heard are compositions by John Kelley, Duke Ellington, and Gene Purling as well as arrangements by Paris Rutherford, Roger Emerson, and choir members. Erek Siebel accompanies on piano, supported by a specially formed student band.
