
Peter Tuscher Quintet
Peter Tuscher is a German trumpeter and flugelhorn player in the fields of jazz and contemporary music. Since 1994, he has been a professor of trumpet at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz and a lecturer at the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra. Tuscher has gained attention as bandleader of the Munich-Detroit-Connection and has appeared as a sideman in numerous ensembles, including with Ray Charles, Wolfgang Dauner, the Al Porcino BigBand, and Don Menza.
The quintet continues "the modern tradition" with freshness, passion, and fire. The quintet carries forward "The Modern Tradition" in the spirit of the Miles Davis Quintet, with classical compositions from Horace Silver to Charles Mingus in mind. The ensemble consists of Peter Tuscher (trumpet, flugelhorn), Matyas Gayer (piano), Matyas Hofecker (bass), August-Wilhelm Scheer (baritone saxophone), and Xaver Hellmeier (drums).
