Jörg Brinkmann Trio
Jörg Brinkmann is known for his extraordinary virtuosity and sound design, combining classical cello techniques with improvised jazz. The trio of cellist Jörg Brinkmann has been making music together for 18 years now and brings in its current program "Labyrinth" original compositions and arrangements from the Renaissance era together in a fascinating way. In their concerts, the musicians focus on intimate interplay, melodies, and improvisations—a dramatic arc that lets the music—composed in part centuries ago—appear in a new light.
The Dutch pianist, composer, and piano instructor Jeroen van Vliet is a master of lyrical piano playing and thus the ideal partner for the cello. Dirk-Peter Kölsch, an open spirit behind the "percussion," the Moselle native who has already toured around the world, brings energetic engagement to the performance. The distinctive sound of his trio is sometimes melodic-lyrical, delicate and harmonious, and then again rocky and dynamic.
