Joel Frahm Trio
Joel Frahm is an American jazz saxophonist distinguished by his warm, powerful tenor sound. The Joel Frahm Trio, with drummer Ernesto Cervini and bassist Dan Loomis, has been performing together for nearly a decade and has recorded two albums: "The Bright Side" and the latest album "Lumination". The chordless trio format without piano or guitar enables a unique musical dialogue between saxophone and bass – the music is exciting, free, interactive, and full of joy.
After more than 30 years in New York City, Frahm now lives in Nashville and teaches at Texas State University. He has collaborated with artists such as Betty Carter, Kenny Barron, Freddy Cole, Brad Mehldau, and Matt Wilson and appears as leader or sideman on more than 100 recordings. Frahm was listed in the tenor saxophone category of DownBeat Magazine's 90th Readers Poll.
