Max Clouth, Oli Rubow & Lara Fischer
Three distinguished voices from the younger German jazz scene come together: Max Clouth on guitar, Oli Rubow on drums, and Lara Fischer on electric bass. Between global sound languages, rhythmic sophistication, and energetic improvisation, a dense trio format emerges.
Max Clouth was born in Frankfurt in 1985 and studied jazz guitar in Germany before traveling to India to learn Hindustani music from Pandit Nayan Ghosh. The double-neck guitars he developed with guitar maker Philipp Neumann are based on Oriental and Indian string instruments such as the oud and sarod. He has developed a musical style inspired by the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Kraftwerk, Led Zeppelin, Indian classical music, and contemporary electronics. Oli Rubow is a German drummer who works as a workshop instructor, book author, and live drummer. He combines the repetitive and cool sound aesthetics of German club culture with his own human touch and the soul of jazz.
